Lunar Eclipse Ephemeris and Timing

The first eclipse of the year! For the early risers you'll find here an outline of how this eclipse goes down along with a timeline. Its ok if you aren't an early bird, this is great energy for a major purge of your crystals, setting intent and programming ritual tools, even starting those new years resolutions the night before and letting it steep in the moonlight. (I've stopped setting resolutions, its almost a guarantee it won't happen if I do).

The times given are for Brisbane, QLD.

This round of the moon rises at 6.22pm the preceeding day, Saturday the 10th and the sun sets at 6.47pm. The Lunar Eclipse begins at 3am on Saturday the 11th. Civil twilight (the time we can start to see the first start of the sky lightening) happens at 4.36am. True maximum occurs after the moon is below the horizon. The last maximum visible in Brisbane occurs at 5.00am, with true maximum happening at 5.10am. We have a brief 1 min window from 5.02am to 5.03am where both the sun and the moon are above the horizon during the maximum of the eclipse. This will be some intense energy to draw on! The eclipse concludes at 7.12am, though it is truly out of sight at this point.
